Marble brings natural character to a kitchen or bathroom, but it needs specialist care. A dropped object can chip an edge, while everyday use can leave scratches, stains and dull marks across the surface. Hampshire Surface Repair restores marble worktops, kitchen islands, tables and vanity tops, using methods chosen for the stone and the finish you want to achieve.

Marble Chip and Edge Repairs
Chips are common around sinks, corners and exposed worktop edges. We clean and prepare the damaged area before rebuilding it with a suitable repair material. The repair is shaped, colour matched and finished to blend as closely as possible with the marble's surrounding colour and veining.
Because every piece of marble is unique, a repair may remain visible on close inspection. We will explain the likely result before work begins.
Deep Cleaning Marble Worktops
Grease, spills, soap residue and unsuitable cleaning products can leave marble looking tired. We use stone-safe products to remove surface contamination, paying particular attention to areas around sinks, taps and food preparation spaces.
Cleaning reveals the condition of the stone beneath. If the marble remains dull or marked afterwards, honing and polishing may be needed to improve the finish.
Honing and Polishing
Marble can be honed to a softer matt or satin finish, or polished to restore a higher sheen where the stone is suitable. We use a sequence of specialist diamond abrasives to refine the surface, reduce suitable scratches and remove many dull marks caused by acidic spills.
The treatment is selected for the condition of the worktop. Deep scratches, stains within the stone and previous damage may need additional work and cannot always be removed completely.
Marble Sealing
An impregnating sealer can help slow the absorption of spills, giving you more time to wipe them away. After cleaning and preparing the marble, we assess whether sealing is appropriate and apply a suitable product where needed.
A standard impregnating sealer helps resist staining, but it does not prevent acid etching. Lemon juice, vinegar, wine and some household cleaners can still react with the marble and leave dull marks.
AntiEtch® Marble Protection
For worktops regularly exposed to food, drinks and other acidic substances, we can assess suitability for MORE® AntiEtch®. This professionally applied, clear surface treatment is designed to protect acid-sensitive stone such as marble against everyday etching and staining while retaining its natural appearance. It is a separate treatment from conventional impregnating sealer.
The marble must be properly prepared first. Existing chips, stains, scratches and etch marks are assessed and addressed as appropriate before the treatment is applied. We will explain the preparation required, the expected finish and the applicable product warranty for your particular worktop.

Repairs: Fill and finish suitable chips, holes or damaged edges.
Honing or polishing: Refine the surface to the agreed finish where required.
Protection: Apply an appropriate impregnating sealer or assess the worktop for AntiEtch® treatment.
Aftercare: Explain how to clean the marble and when the worktop can return to use.
