Granite worktops are durable, but they can still develop chipped edges, damaged seams, dull patches and ingrained dirt. Some granite can also absorb spills if its protective sealer has worn away. Granite Chip Repairs
Chips often occur around sinks, corners and exposed edges. We clean and prepare the damaged area, rebuild it using a suitable repair material, then shape, colour match and finish the repair to blend as closely as possible with the surrounding stone. Because granite has natural colour and pattern variations, repairs may remain visible on close inspection.
Seam and Joint Replacement
Worktop seams can become cracked, loose or discoloured. Where appropriate, we remove the failed joint material, clean and prepare the seam, then refill and finish it for a neater appearance. We also check for movement that could cause the joint to fail again.
Granite Deep Cleaning and Polishing
Grease, limescale and everyday residue can build up around sinks, hobs and preparation areas. We deep clean the granite using products and methods suited to its finish. Where polishing is appropriate, we refine dull or marked areas to improve their appearance and help achieve a more consistent finish.
Granite Worktop Sealing
Some granite is more absorbent than others. Before sealing, we assess the stone and its existing protection to establish whether a new sealer is needed. The worktop is thoroughly cleaned and allowed to dry before we apply a suitable impregnating sealer.
The sealer penetrates the stone rather than leaving a visible coating on top. It helps slow the absorption of spills, giving you more time to wipe them away, and can make routine cleaning easier. Sealing does not make granite stainproof, and spills should still be cleaned up promptly.
We will advise you on any drying or curing time before the worktop returns to normal use.
